I want to be more strong and assertive but also want to stay in my feminine energy

June 25, 2024

Whether you're new to female-led relationships or already have experience as a dominant woman, questions are normal. In our "Chyrpe Letters" series, we answer questions from our users and our past selves with the kind advice you’d expect from a good friend.

This post covers:

Hey,

I know how it feels, thinking you have no power, especially when the world seems to constantly remind us that our voices are less important. It’s easy to feel drowned out, undervalued, and as if our only choice is to adapt to a more masculine way of leading or expressing ourselves to be taken seriously. But trust me, embracing our femininity can be our greatest strength, not our weakness.

Growing up, I saw many women, including my mother, conform to the shadows of their partners, muting their desires and potential in the process. It seemed like a pattern destined to be repeated. But as I started carving out my own path, I realized that femininity doesn't mean being passive—it means being powerful in our own unique way.

Being strong isn’t about adopting traditionally male characteristics; strength is about knowing yourself and recognizing the inherent power in our identity as women. Femininity is diverse—it can be nurturing, fierce, empathetic, or assertive. It’s about using these qualities, not hiding them, to lead and make changes.

For example, in my own relationship, I began to notice how my inclination to empathize and nurture could easily be seen as a weakness or a secondary support role. But I flipped that narrative. I started using these traits to take the lead in making decisions that affected both our lives. It was a game changer. My partner not only respects me more, but he's also more open in expressing his own vulnerabilities, which has strengthened our bond.

It’s crucial, though, to communicate openly and ensure that leadership in a relationship doesn’t mean domination, but rather partnership. It's about leveraging our natural tendencies to foster a balanced, respectful, and loving interaction where both partners feel empowered.

So, to every woman who feels overshadowed or powerless: remember that your femininity is a reservoir of strength. Embrace it. Let it shine through in how you lead your life and your relationships. It’s not about being more like men; it’s about being entirely, authentically you. That’s where true power lies.

Much love!
